Psychobiology

He is Professor Emeritus of psychobiology at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” where he is a member of the Center for Neurobiology. From 1976 to 2002 he directed the Institute of Psychobiology and Psychopharmacology of the CNR.

He was president of the Italian Society of Ethology, the Italian Institute of Anthropology and the Italian Society of Neuroethics. Member of the Académie Européenne Internationale des Sciences, Paris. “Antonio Feltrinelli” Prize 2017, Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei for Literature and Sciences.

He is the author of more than 200 scientific publications, professional, educational and popular essays. His latest book is The Ages of the Mind (with Anna Oliverio Ferraris), BUR 2021.

He was among the founders of Prometheus and a member of the Editorial Board continuously since 1983.
